Student affairs and services provide critical infrastructural support and programme that elevates student success in higher education. Yet the relevance of the actual work must be nuanced and adapted to the prevailing time and context. This is so because technological advancement continuously shapes the way student services are delivered by providing new opportunities for improvement; whereas the appreciation of the local context can help harness the best of the humanistic elements to foster student learning. To this end, the Asia Pacific Student Services Association (APSSA) seeks to be the authentic voice that represents the aspirations of student affairs professionals in this part of the world.
APSSA believes in collective learning through the exchange of ideas. The signature platforms we use to fulfill this mission include the biennial international conference, as well as study visits to partner institutions for experiential learning and to grow a community of practice.
As we advance into our fourth decade, our track record speaks for itself. We are now anticipating the 19th edition of the APSSA International Conference to be held in Singapore on 18 – 20 November 2024. We aim to use this opportunity to widen the engagement across more partner universities in the region to enrich the quality of the dialogues. Ultimately, it is our hope that APSSA will grow to become a leading organisation for student affairs professionals, serving as a powerful catalyst to activate bold actions towards student success.Assoc Prof Han Kiat HO, Ph.D., DABT
