President’s Message

In Loving Memory of Dr. Renelyn Belen Salcedo

With saddened and heavy hearts we announce the passing away of our good friend Dr. Renelyn B. Salcedo.

Being the President-elect of Asia Pacific Student Services Association (APSSA), Renelyn was our precious teamer for the dedication of professional development in student services of Asia Pacific and beyond. She was the National President of Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services (PAPSAS). With the support from Renelyn and PAPSAS we are expecting a close partnership for the APSSA 20th International Conference to be conducted 30 Nov to 2 Dec in Hong Kong.

Throughout her years in higher education, Renelyn, a successful educator, student services practitioner, key connector for PAPSAS in reaching out to the world, and most precious a good friend with a warm and compassionate heart, that committed to our young generations for their wholistic development in university life.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, colleagues and friends during this difficult time. Renelyn will be deeply missed and cherished in our thoughts and memories.

The Aspirations and Values of Student Affairs Professionals

With more than 50 countries and territories in Asia Pacific we are here being student affairs professionals are proud of the diversity in unity that provide precious learning opportunities to our students near and far, local and outbound, within APAC and beyond that we appreciate each other and to open our hearts to embrace people from different continents. Along this line, the Asia Pacific Student Services Association (APSSA) seeks to be the authentic voice representing the aspirations and values of student affairs professionals in this part of the world while we promote mutual learning, communication and collaboration with academics and professionals within and outside APAC.

APSSA believes in collective learning through the exchange of ideas. The signature platforms we use to fulfill this mission include the biennial international conference, Institute of Student Affairs study tour, as well as study visits to partner institutions for experiential learning and to grow a community of practice.

We are now anticipating the 20th edition of the APSSA International Conference to be held in Hong Kong on 30 November – 2 December 2026. We aim to use this platform to widen the engagement across more partner universities in the region to enrich the quality of dialogues and mutual learning.

We are working on the APSSA Network that to enlarge our coverage and make even stronger influence that ultimately, we are at the hope that APSSA will grow to become a leading organisation for student affairs professionals, serving as a powerful catalyst to activate creative and impactful actions towards student development and success.
