STUDENT POSTER PRESENTATION

Student poster submissions are now open

We are excited to invite student participation in our upcoming conference. The theme for student participation is  “Learning and Development outside the classroom/ in informal spaces” and we would like to invite you to submit your posters for this event. This is an excellent opportunity for you to showcase your experiences, ideas, and insights related to student life on campus.

 

Why should you submit a poster? Here are a few reasons: 

  •  Present your unique perspective: As university students, each of you have a unique experience and viewpoint on student life. This conference is the perfect platform to communicate your thoughts, challenges, and successes with your peers.
  • Contribute to the academic community: Your poster can contribute to the body of knowledge on student life in university. Your research, observations, or experiences can potentially inspire and benefit other students, researchers, and educators.
  • Networking opportunities: This conference will bring together students, professionals, and researchers from various disciplines. Presenting your poster will allow you to connect with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and build valuable connections for your future.

Make sure to carefully consider the theme of “Learning and Development outside the classroom / in informal spaces” when preparing your poster, and ensure it aligns with the guidelines provided. Remember, the deadline for poster submissions is 30 Sep 2024. Do not miss this chance to showcase your work and contribute to the conference. Submit Poster
There will be attractive prizes of up to SGD 300 in total for the top three (3) posters submitted. If you have any questions or need further information, don’t hesitate to reach out to our conference organising committee at ask@apssa.co.
  1. Title: Choose a concise and descriptive title for your poster that clearly reflects the content and purpose of your research or project.
  2. Abstract: Provide a brief summary of your poster in 100 – 200 words. This should include the objectives, methods, key findings, and implications of your work.
  3. Introduction: Clearly introduce the background and rationale for your research or project. Explain why it is relevant to the field of student affairs and how it contributes to existing knowledge or practices.
  4. Methods: Describe the methodology or approach used to conduct your research or carry out your project. This should include information on data collection, sample size, tools or instruments used, and any ethical considerations.
  5. Results: Present your findings in a clear and organised manner. Use graphs, charts, or tables to visually represent data, if applicable. Highlight the most important findings or trends that emerged from your research or project.
  6. Discussion: Interpret and analyse your findings. Discuss how your results contribute to the understanding of the topic or address the research question. Reflect on any limitations or challenges encountered during the process.
  7. Conclusion: Summarise the main points and significance of your research or project. Emphasise the implications or practical applications of your findings for the field of student affairs.
  8. References: Include a list of the sources you cited in your poster. Use a consistent citation style, such as APA or MLA.
  9. Design and Layout: Create an eye-catching and visually appealing poster. Use clear headings, subheadings, and bullet points to guide readers through the content. Ensure that the text is readable from a reasonable distance.
  10. Contact Information: Provide your name, affiliation, and email address or phone number for attendees to reach out for further discussion or collaboration.

Conference themes:

The 19th APSSA International Conference will be centred around the following themes and sub themes.

Transiting into and Navigating through University towards Student Success   

  1. First Year Experience- Designing support to facilitate seamless transition
    Keywords: transition theory, factors for successful transition, new environment, managing change, situation of change, adjustments, adoption, integration, first year curriculum, academic transition, students’ roles and requirements, transition support services and programmes
  2. Planning, policies, practice and programmes to optimise holistic student development from entry to graduation
    Keywords: formal curricular integration, holistic education, experiential learning, teaching and learning approaches in holistic education, comprehensive development, curricular activities beyond the classroom, developing passion
  3. Monitoring/evaluating the level of effective transition and successful learning at University
    Keywords: integration indicators, learning outcomes beyond the classroom, measuring informal learning, coherence in formal-informal learning initiatives, identity development indicators, indicators of holistic development

CALL FOR ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION IS CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.

The 19th APSSA International Conference Organising Committee invites you to submit an abstract for research, practitioner or case study papers for consideration for inclusion in the conference programme. Abstracts will be selected based on relevance to theme and sub themes of the conference. However, if you have any ideas that do not fit entirely within the themes, please continue to submit your abstract and we will categorise your abstract accordingly.

 

Please review the information below and submit via the Abstract submission portal prior to the deadline (GMT+8/SGT 5pm, 15 July 2024). Selected abstracts presenter(s) may be asked to submit a full paper (4,000 words) to be considered for proceedings publication, after the conference. 

 

The abstract submitted should not exceed 500 words i.e. approximately one (1) MS Word page document, and also include an additional 500-character summary. It should be a concise summary of what will be presented, including a title and the aim of the presentation, key discussion points, and practical implications/ general implications. 

Abstract should:

  1. be written in 500 words or less and submitted in MS Word or PDF format
  2. include an additional up to 500-character summary
  3. Named as follows: 19thAPSSA2024_Presenter Last Name_Subtheme_Title (e.g. 19thAPSSA2024_Adillo_2_Evaluating the Effectiveness of Support Programmes for Transition)
  4. include the focus of the presentation e.g. research outcomes, provision of practical applications related to student affairs
  5. include background/context, including relevant literature
  6. include description and method of evaluative data collection and analysis
  7. include a summary of conclusion to the paper
